The Proxi® CMC is a thumb orthosis designed for patients with CMC-1 (thumb base) problems. A pre-moulded volar platform in thermoplastic helps create better joint space at the CMC joint. An opening over the thenar eminence takes a semi-elastic hook strap, which gives active support and helps assist abduction of the thumb. The strap can run over the CMC joint and attach on the dorsal side for individual support. The platform is made from Immo+® 1.6mm thermoplastic and can be reshaped by hand, with no hot water or heat gun. The orthosis is made from Neptune™, which is hydrodynamic, breathable and skin-friendly. It needs no edging tapes, so it can be trimmed with scissors. A dorsal overlap closure with a micro hook secures it at the wrist. Available as a left or right model.

Indications:
- CMC-1 (thumb base) joint problems
- Osteoarthritis of the thumb CMC joint
Contraindications: patients with unstable fractures should not use this orthosis.
Fitting and precautions:
- Should be fitted by a medical professional such as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, orthopaedic technician or doctor
- Patients with diabetes, circulatory problems or sensitive skin should consult their doctor before use
- Wash weekly: close all straps, use a laundry bag, and never wash above 40°C
- Patients with allergies should check the material content on the label
