Description

SAGA Handy Fly – Portable Flywheel Trainer

The SAGA Handy Fly is a small, handheld flywheel trainer that gives you real strength training without weights, racks or power. It weighs less than a kilo and fits in a backpack. You can attach it to almost any solid fixed point (a door, rack, post, fence or wall) and train your whole body at home, in the gym, in the clinic or on the road.

What is flywheel training?
Flywheel training uses a spinning disc for resistance instead of weights. The disc sits inside the device and is attached to a rope.

  • Pull: When you pull the rope, the disc starts to spin. You feel resistance as you speed it up. This is the concentric phase.
  • Return: When the rope is fully pulled out, the spinning disc winds it back in, just like a yo-yo. You then have to slow the disc down and control it. This is the eccentric phase.

The return phase is what makes flywheel training so effective. With normal weights, gravity helps you lower the load, so the lowering part is easier. With a flywheel, the energy you put into the pull comes straight back at you, so you work just as hard on the way back. The harder you pull, the more resistance you get. This is called eccentric overload. It builds strength, power and muscle, and it is widely used in tendon and injury rehabilitation.

Why the Handy Fly is different
Most flywheel machines are heavy and fixed to the floor, so you can only pull in one direction. The Handy Fly is the anchor point. Wherever you attach it and however you stand in relation to it sets the direction you train in: pushing, pulling, rotating, chopping, squatting or curling. This lets you train in multiple planes of movement for sport, rehab and everyday function.

There’s no app, Bluetooth, battery or charging. You just attach it and start training.

Who it’s for

  • Physiotherapists and clinicians: controlled eccentric loading for rehab, in the clinic, on home visits or in the field
  • Athletes and coaches: strength and power work at training, while travelling and during the season
  • Personal trainers: a full-body training tool that goes to every client
  • Home users: a full strength setup without filling a room with equipment

Key features

  • Resistance in both directions: loads the pull and the return phase of every rep
  • Interchangeable flywheel weights: lighter for speed and power, heavier for strength and muscle
  • Up to 136 kg of pull force
  • Full-body training: squats, rows, presses, pulls, curls, chops and more
  • Multiple mounting options: door, wall, rack, post, tree or fence
