The Össur Unloader One X is an unloading knee brace that reduces load on one side of the knee. A three-point leverage system uses adjustable straps, rigid shells and a single hinge. Tool-free SmartDosing® dials let the wearer fine-tune the strap tension during the day, and the slender frame can be worn discreetly. It must be fitted and adjusted by a healthcare professional.

- Care: Machine wash cold (30°C) with mild detergent, leaving the soft goods on the brace and using the washbag provided, then air dry. Do not tumble dry, iron, bleach or use fabric softener. Rinse with fresh water after exposure to salt or chlorinated water.
Indications:
For knee conditions that may benefit from unicompartmental load reduction, such as:
- Mild to severe unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis
- Degenerative meniscal tears
- Articular cartilage defect repair
- Meniscal repair
- Avascular necrosis
- Condylar bone marrow lesions (bone bruises)
- Tibial plateau fractures
Contraindications:
- No known contraindications
Fitting and precautions:
- With the wearer seated and the leg extended, open the buckles and place the brace on the leg with the hinge on the affected side of the knee.
- Align the hinge logo with the upper edge of the patella and centre the front edge of the hinge cap on the midline of the leg.
- Snap each buckle into its colour-matched keyhole. Position the calf strap above the widest part of the calf, then secure the thigh strap.
- With both SmartDosing dials at the lowest setting, adjust the DFS straps until they sit firmly against the leg with no tension.
- With the knee bent and the foot flat, turn both dials clockwise to the middle slot. Walk a few steps and adjust the DFS strap length based on pain relief.
- Trim the straps once the fit is confirmed, calf strap first. Position the popliteal pad behind the knee.
- Regular healthcare professional supervision is recommended for people with peripheral vascular disease, neuropathy or sensitive skin.
- Increase wear time gradually. If redness appears, shorten the wear time until it settles.
- Avoid overtightening.
- Use may increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
- Stop use and contact a healthcare professional if there is pain, skin irritation, excessive pressure, an unusual reaction, damage or wear, or a change in how the brace works.
