The PF8® Night Sock is designed for people with plantar fasciitis or heel spurs who want to reduce pain, particularly the first steps in the morning. It holds the foot in a slightly stretched position overnight, so the plantar fascia heals while extended and may ease morning pain and difficulty getting up. A non-elastic strap at the front connects the forefoot, focused on the big toe joint, to the upper lower leg. It sets the stretch angle, and it can be loosened or tightened. The stretch doesn’t need to be tight, as the foot is relaxed during sleep, and a comfortable, lighter stretch is usually more beneficial over a full night. A fastening strap around the upper lower leg keeps the sock in place. The soft, compression-providing design is thin and comfortable to sleep in. An anti-slip surface on the forefoot helps if you need to get up during the night.
Key features:
- Adjustable night stretch: a non-elastic front strap from the big toe joint to the upper lower leg
- Secure fit: a strap around the upper lower leg holds the sock in place all night
- Soft compression: thin, comfortable material designed for sleep
- Anti-slip forefoot surface: for safer movement if you get up at night
- Care: wash weekly following the care label, close all straps and use a laundry bag
Indications:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Heel spurs
Contraindications: patients with circulatory problems should consult their doctor before use, as the sock may cause swelling during the night.
Fitting and precautions:
- Adjust the strap so the ankle sits at least 90° (ideally 80°), with the toes drawn up towards the knee. Keep the stretch comfortable.
- Position the sock just above the calf muscle, below the knee crease. Don’t over-tighten the upper strap or the sock, as this can cause swelling or circulation problems.
- Night splinting can take time, sometimes up to three months, to take full effect.
- Take care walking during the night, as the sock can be slippery on some floors despite the anti-slip tip.
- Patients with diabetes, circulatory problems or sensitive skin should consult their doctor before use. Allergy sufferers should check the material content on the label.
