Description

The DeRoyal Dorsal Night Splint holds the foot in a 90° neutral position to support the treatment of plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis and related conditions. A rigid thermoplastic body sits on top (dorsal side) of the foot, and the toes slide through an elastic piece on the bottom. A toe strap over the top of the foot and a calf strap behind the leg, both neoprene with hook and loop closures, hold it in place. The bottom is plastic-free, and the low-profile design keeps it cooler and more comfortable to wear. A non-skid tread on the underside allows safe minimal walking when needed.

Key features:

  • Thermoplastic design: holds the foot in a 90° neutral position
  • Dorsal (top-of-foot) design: a rigid body over the top, with toes held by an elastic piece underneath
  • Neoprene straps: toe and calf straps with hook and loop closures
  • Plastic-free bottom with a non-skid tread for minimal, careful walking
  • Low-profile design: for a cooler, more comfortable fit
  • Single patient use
  • Care: hand wash in cold water with mild detergent and air dry

Indications:

  • Plantar fasciitis (inflammation of the thin layer of deep fibrous tissue connected to the heel bone)
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Tendonitis and tendinosis
  • Drop foot
  • Post-static pain (pain on the first steps after rest)

Contraindications:

  • Plantar flexion contractures greater than 10°
  • Severe spasticity

Fitting and precautions:

  • Should be fitted by a physician or properly licensed practitioner, who should explain how and for how long to wear it
  • Do not walk or place weight on the foot while wearing the splint without consulting a physician. It is not designed for walking outdoors or on slippery or uneven surfaces.
  • Consult your practitioner immediately if you experience changes in sensation, unusual reactions, swelling or increased pain

Application:

  1. Open the toe strap and calf strap.
  2. Slide the toes through the elastic piece on the bottom, with the rigid body on top of the foot.
  3. Secure the toe strap over the top of the foot.
  4. Wrap the calf strap behind the leg and fasten snugly.
