Meet the mum behind Everform Therapy Wear

Learn more from the visionary behind Everform Therapy Wear, Rosie Dumbrell. Rosie talks about what Everform Therapy Wear is, why she developed it, and how it works.

Who is Rosie?

I am a movement lover and always have been – from my early cross country races, gymnastics to triathlon and my chosen career path in studying human movement as a physiotherapist – I am passionate about keeping our bodies moving because I firmly believe healthy and happy bodies are the house for healthy and happy minds – it's something I want to instill in our children, and the broader community.

What inspired you to get into the field of physiotherapy?

I have always been someone who loves moving, and who loves to help other people – so Physio was a natural choice for me. I worked in sports particularly across running, triathlon, cycling and gymnastics, before retraining in Pregnancy, postpartum fitness and recovery, and ultimately pelvic health and continence through the APA. This shift was inspired by my own challenges and experiences growing and birthing 4 children over the past 8 years.

How did your journey lead you to create Everform Therapy Wear?

I distinctly remember putting on some Maternity tights, trying several pairs from different suppliers I had purchased online – and just not being able to find the support that I needed, nor the quality or aesthetic I knew I wanted and should be able to find. I purchased so many different types of products to support the changes I was experiencing through pregnancy – and was wholly dissatisfied. I remember bursting into tears of frustration – (probably the hormones talking) but it was a moment of “women deserve better than this” and I can do better. Over the course of the next few years, I went on to create Lenny Rose Active, and through working closely and fastidiously with our customers and other women’s health professionals our core products evolved into now what we offer in Everform Therapywear – science backed, comfortable therapywear that looks as good as it makes you feel.

What is Everform Therapy Wear?

Everform is really a new category in compression – Therapy you can wear, with a focus on supporting and improving pelvic health – particularly designed with our patent-pending sling system to lift the pelvic floor, support the connective tissues and postural alignment to improve and ameliorate incontinence, prolapse, pain and venous insufficiencies. So, we look like normal activewear but have hidden technology with clinical studies showing that we improve pelvic floor muscle engagement with wear, and a growing host of raving customers who have gotten back their confidence and their ability to participate in their chosen sport without leaks – with the help of our therapywear.

What types of products are included in the Everform Therapy Wear line?

Currently we have pregnancy and postpartum leggings, shorts and mini shorts, with many other products in development.

What specific health issues or conditions does Everform Therapy Wear aim to address?

All of our product lines contain our patent pending FemmeCore TM sling system with specific pressure ratios to target pelvic floor lift and support, balanced with the right amount of abdominal support to ensure improvement in pelvic floor support related disorders such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pain, swelling, and more.

Everform Pregnancy Support is specifically designed to support the anatomical changes of pregnancy – supporting the bump with our Unique Bump Sling TM, postural, lower back and pelvic girdle support, as well as pelvic floor and continence support. These products have the unique combination of support and absorbency – because our biggest motivation is to help give back women the confidence and capacity to move the way she wants to – unencombered by leaks, pain, or other symptoms. We know it may take time to help the body to heal (though so many women wearing Everform are leak-free whilst wearing our products, first and everytime!) so we added in the absorbency to take the stress out of getting back into exercise and doing what she loves.

Everform Postpartum Support – specifically designed to support postpartum recovery for both vaginal and c section delivery – our postpartum products are effective to support C-section wound healing and pain relief, provide support and assist recovery of pelvic floor and perineum, as well as organ support to reposition the organs and bladder for recovery or maintenance of continence.

Why did you create Everform Therapy Wear?

Nothing that I tried supported my body in the way I needed it, was comfortable, quality or looked the way I would like (like normal apparel!). This started the journey into compression, but our therapywear was born out of listening to our customers feedback, as well as scouring the research, testing and developing products over a number of years to meet 1) a product that supports the changes of a woman’s body – no matter what stage of life 2) quality products that women want to wear, are comfortable, make them feel good and give them back their capacity to move their body with confidence – so creating something with a medical function, that didn’t LOOK medical was also a non-negotiable.

Why do you believe this product is important for consumers?

300M women across the globe suffer from Incontinence, over half of which is stress, followed by mixed incontinence. Physiotherapy supervised exercise is the gold standard of care/ first line of treatment for many sufferers – yet 65% don’t seek help. We saw the need to provide an effective, conservative therapy that can complement this treatment, or act as a standalone when access to treatment is prohibitive to recovery.

Can you share any stories or feedback from users that highlight the impact of your products?

There are many – but my favourite to date is a recent one of a mum who we helped get back into running without leaks – a first for her not only postpartum, but in her adult life before having three kids:

“I've always been into running. Love running. However, I've always been held back with a little bit of leakage, and obviously postpartum third child round, I wanted to do things right in terms of my pelvic floor, getting that strengthened. And look, I really was focusing on running postpartum, and nothing crazy, just nice, slow, steady. However, a friend recommended your therapywear. I came in, had a try fitting and then I was able to run pretty much straight away. Obviously not a full speed run, but I was jogging and walking at a consistent pace, without having any leakage, which I found absolutely amazing. Like I have never been able to run in the afternoon. But having the support of those shorts and the long leggings was phenomenal. They are literally game changers. I honestly can't run without them now, just because I feel so supported, they feel so comfortable. And honestly, I have not had any leakage wearing the therapywear at all. And I'm blown away. Even previously with having three children, I've always had a bit of my pelvic floor hasn't been as strong as it probably would highly recommend. But honestly, they are a game changer for my fitness and health and all over confidence with that, being able to go out and hit the pavement feeling like I'm not going to wee myself." How does Everform Therapy Wear work?

Our products are medical grade compression – which means they are graduated in applied pressure – higher pressure distally to less pressure centrally – to improve venous return. Our real magic, however, is in our internal hidden sling, and carefully crafted design, patterns and fabric choice to execute a specific ratio of applied pressure on the body – which we have found with independently conducted studies, to improve pelvic floor muscle tone with wear. We are excited to be embarking on the next research phase which involves a prescribed wear period over several weeks, to assess the longer term changes we can have in women’s pelvic health. It’s a very exciting time!

How should users incorporate these products into their daily routine?

Depending on their condition or level of discomfort – we recommend daily wear for 8+ hours in the early postpartum period, or as tolerated, and similarly for pregnancy symptom management of pain, swelling or discomfort. In postpartum wear can reduce to “as needed” – for exercise and support returning to higher levels of activity – 1-2 hours a day after the first 8 weeks; and for pregnancy – for symptom related activities or as comfortable if symptoms do not require all day wear.

What are the main benefits users can expect from using Everform Therapy Wear?

Pregnancy – reduced pain, strain, discomfort, pelvic floor heaviness, incontinence + leak protection; swelling management

Postpartum – acerated and higher quality muscle and connective tissue recovery, reduced pain and earlier return to appropriate levels of movement, wound healing support, reduced swelling, relief from stress incontinence.
