About Cardiac Arrest

Did you know that sudden cardiac arrest occurs three times more frequently in athletes than non-athletes? Why? Because physical activity can act as a triggering risk factor, regardless of your fitness level, weight, or age. (Read more). Often, the high cost of acquiring a defibrillator can pose a barrier to sporting clubs being first aid prepared, leaving individuals in these settings vulnerable during emergencies.

The Heart Foundation has recorded alarming statistics that 375,000 Australians experience a heart attack each year. 1 in 20 of these ends in death, equating to one person dying of a heart attack every 74 minutes, or on average 19 people every day. Of these that end up in cardiac arrest, every minute that passes the chance of survival decreases 10 per cent.
